In the world of higher education, stories from students are often some of the most valuable tools available for building support for a program or movement, and the use of film in communications and advocacy allows audiences to put a face, voice, and a name to many of the pressing issues facing our students. This session will preview 3 recently released, award-winning documentaries in higher education, Personal Statement, Fail State, and Unlikely, and will feature a panel of Directors and students to discuss the value of student voices and storytelling in the College Promise movement.
Upcoming Fail State screenings. Fail State is an investigative documentary on for-profit colleges, student loan debt, and American higher education. Executive produced by news legend and journalist Dan Rather. Directed by Alexander Shebanow.
